Nathan’s Initial Thoughts – Florida

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Uncategorized

What a weekend it was. Great people, perfect weather, and amazing memories made by everyone wearing red an black. Without further ado, here are my initial thoughts:

  • After starting out uncomfortably warm, the weather broke beautifully. It was overcast enough to avoid late-October heat-stroke, but sunny enough to give us an amazing sunset.
  • My favorite picture I’ve ever taken. It has it all: composition, color, and Gator sadness.
  • The Redcoats came to play (surprise, I know). They were loud, rowdy, and sounded great well after the game was in hand.
  • I also got to bring my wife to this one. Her presence is awesome for me at the games because she A) calms me down, and B) keeps me from doing anything stupid. I was very happy she was there (obvi).
  • A beautiful, intelligent, human being who makes every situation better, and some idiot with a podcast.
  • D’andre Swift isn’t just a scat back. That dude can lay hit on ya.
  • Speaking of which, it’s one of life’s little beauties that Chauncey Gardener took a hit from Swift on, of all things, a slant route. Poetic justice at its finest
  • Sony Michel is a complete back. We’re gonna see him in the league for years to come.
  • Holyfield might be the best 5th string RB in the nation.
  • L. Carter, JR Reed, and my boy Roquan had themselves a great game. ho hum
  • Having said that, I saw some pretty disturbing defense out there in the 2nd and 3rd. I haven’t watched the replay, but it gave me shades of 2016 Tech for a second. We’re gonna have to clean that up agains Auburn and Tech going forward.
  • Fromm to Wims in the redzone is starting to look like an integral part of our playbook.
  • Seriously, that throw was amazing. Great job by Wims by getting up and bodying the defender out of the way.
  • If for no other reason, it’s always a good day when UGA can get a win agains Florida while throwing 7 passes
  • I thought Chaney called a good game, but more than that, I was really impressed by the individual execution of the O Line. On all three long TD runs, they just knocked their men off the line. What a turnaround by these guys. (And what a job by Pitman, who is earning his paycheck this year.
  • It’s hard for me to process the historical meaning of this game. A few of the people on staff, who have been doing this way longer than me, saw this as a pretty big Moment for the Program. I tend to agree. I’m all about rational prediction of games, but at a program level, psychology is a factor.
  • It’s never a bad day when we beat Florida, but this one was sweeter than most. I hope you all had as good a time as I did. We’ll catch you at the chicken fry this weekend, but until then, Go Dawgs!
